New York Salsa

Three Dancers in New York

People from around the world are flocking to New York to learn its signature salsa style. Danced in a linear movement, it is danced “On 2” unlike other salsa styles, meaning that the follower steps forward and leader steps backwards on the second beat.

New York Salsa is often credited as the creation of Eddie Torres, the “Mambo King”, who has trained thousands of dancers over the last four decades. When it comes to lady styling, Griselle Ponce, the “Mambo Diva” is the ultimate reference and is one of the world’s most recognized and decorated female salsa artists. She was discovered by New-Jersey based dance instructor Ismael Otero, known as “The Million Moves Man” who’s step-by-step approach to learning to dance will help even the most bashful beginner to bring out their inner personality.
